Who says pushing random buttons never works!?!

So it is now 11:50 at night, I am awake and on my computer for one reason: I have a paper to finish. Why, you may ask, am I on word-press blogging then? Well, I am waiting on Microsoft Word to open my document I saved from my office computer on to my laptop, which lay before me in my…well, lap. And i have a few second to tell you about this wonderful laptop.

My laptop is back from the dead. It died in the beginning of December. I tried to fix it, but I couldn’t… it was dead. I called in the warranty, they tried to fix it but they couldn’t…. it was dead. Sony decided to replace my laptop, but they couldn’t… the stock room was empty.  So they cut me a check to console be but it couldn’t… my laptop was dead.(well okay it really did help) But then this morning, I had my dead laptop… as a last ditch effort pressed a bunch of random function keys while it was booting up and it let me boot up and format the hard drive. Literally, that is all i did, just a bunch of random buttons… I don’t know which ones for the life of me, I couldn’t tell you… but it worked. So now I have my computer back and some coin in my pocket for having to do the work to fix it myself…even if I don’t know what i did.

Afton’s First Hair Cut

Yesterday, Afton got her first hair cut. I know, I know…she is growing up way too fast! In all honesty, Afton really only needed a little trimming of her bangs and the top of her hair. Her hair is so curly it looks short, but when it’s wet, it’s past her shoulders. Afton did really well getting her hair cut. She disliked putting the smock on, so we decided to leave that off. But after that, Brittany (our hair dresser) gave her two combs and we were good to go. That is until Brittany put the blow dryer to Afton’s hair…she tried to get away as quick as she could! Overall, Afton was wonderful and such a big girl about the whole ordeal! Here are some pictures:

Then, today I came across this article and I came across the the emo band name generator. it is good fun you should try it.

my band name would be Physical Underlying Satellite.

The Tiger of Judah?

I am Glad my savior is the Lion of Judah and not the Tiger.

Deficient eschatology?

I have always held to the fact that I am not an Pre/post/a/disp. pre-millennialist but rather a pan-millennialist, I believe that it will all pan out in the end.

Birthday books

My Birthday was last Friday and for my Birthday I just asked for gift cards to amazon.com, yeah I know I totally geeked out. Well today the product of my book loving obsession came in.

  • 15 books
  • 6423 pages give or take a few
  • all theology or related
  • Grudem, Carson, Piper, Owen, Stott, Sproul, Dever, Driscoll, and others and more.

I love books! I love learning! but I think my eyes were bigger than my preverbal stomach.

I wonder if Gutenberg would cry

A few days ago I went into a bookstore and began to browse the shelves of the store. This, by far is one of my favorite activities! But on this trip, I was struck by the sheer number of books that were at best dull and at worst heresy.  They were books about deep things written by men who had arrived at the wrong conclusion and now suffer the world [and trees] to their wrong conclusion.
I wonder if Gutenberg would cry? [Not Gutenberg]

Sadly, these books and authors were filtered and edited; a glimmer of hope that is doomed by the blog world. Just because you can write doesn’t mean you should.

myself included.

Jesus’ passion and an emergent jab: One busy/funny sentance.

Jesus also tells some sunday school teachers they are going to hell, which made the universalistic Emergent folks immediately engage in a conversation about the mythology of hell and fingerpaint about the emotional wounds caused by his words.

The Pounding of a Lifetime

So at my new church, we apparently do something called a pounding(don’t worry I had never heard of one either) in which the entire Church comes together and stocks the pantry of a new minister with a pound or so of everything. So today we were pounded! It was pretty amazing! We received about 22 lb. of sugar, 15 cans of tuna, 14 cans of whole corn (5 or so of the creamed corn variety), at least 20 cans of beans (ranch style, baked, refried), a couple pounds of flour,  baby food, 200 diapers, lots of can soups and about a million other things that would be too numerous to mention.  Here are some pictures below:

By the way, we had to use an empty bookcase as an extra pantry because we had so much food and not enough space to store.  Probably the only time we will ever have that problem, but it is a great one to have.
