A Well Needed Update

John News

Well, we have been very busy lately and lazy about posting.  There have been lots of changes around here, and I will start with the biggest one…although hopefully, I will not be stealing John’s thunder.  We have been making trips to Hillsboro about every two weeks lately, for John’s prospective youth minister position.  Our last trip was for John to go to the church in view of a call.  I played piano and sang Sunday morning at the church and John gave the children’s message.  We passed our first “tests” with flying colors.  Sunday night, John preached and did an AMAZING job.  He is such a dynamic teacher…inspired, informative, and humorous.  I really enjoyed listening to him teach again, where he is totally in his element.  After he preached, the church voted on him coming in view of a call, and we gladly accepted.  Then the church voted to license him.  After 5 years in the ministry, John is finally a licensed minister…YAY!  All that to say, John is now the youth (and childrens) minister at Central Baptist in Hillsboro!  We are ecstatic about serving and ministering to youth again and are so ready to be there already!  Now we just need a place to live.  But we know God wants us there, so we are not worried about it.

Afton News

Afton turned 4 months old yesterday…and we can’t believe how she is growing and changing!  She is rolling over, grabbing things, almost sitting up on her own, and can stand with little support.  Her 4 month checkup was today and she did such a good job with the shots.  Only a little bit of crying, unlike last time where she screamed for a good while.  She is still huge for her age…15 lbs 8 oz and 25 1/4 inches long.  If only we could get her to sleep through the night.  We are trying something new now at night, so we will see how that goes.  Hopefully, she will be sleeping all night very soon.  Luckily, she is such a happy baby.  She just loves to smile and laugh…this kid will smile at anyone who looks at her!  She loves listening to music and just smiles so big when I sing to her.  Who knew we could love someone SO much!

Amy News

I am so blessed to be able to say at home with Afton.  I have yet to miss working one single day!  Work around the house and taking care of Afton are more than a full-time job, as it is.  I am really looking forward to getting back into youth ministry and serving alongside John.  Once we get to Hillsboro, I plan on starting to teach private piano lessons once a week to make extra money and do something I love to do.  The pastor of the church in Hillsboro is very laid back about John’s office hours, since he is only part-time anyway.  That will allow me to teach piano one day a week, while John is at home watching Afton.

There is about to be another huge change in my life.  My dad has gotten a new job in Kentucky and my parents will be moving next month.  No one has ever lived that far away before.  And although it is an opportunity of a lifetime for my dad, I am very sad to see them go.  So not only are we moving, but my parents are also.  I guess it is all part of growing up, but I just don’t like it.  In addition, my mom just had knee replacement surgery, which will make moving very interesting.  But I know this is where God wants them, and He has a perfect plan for them and for us.

How is that for a much needed update?
