Once in love with Amy

So there is this song that I heard when I was still dating Amy, Called “Once in love with Amy”. It is an old old song but the version i like is Frank Sinatra, of course. Well anyway, I heard it today and it made me think about how lucky I am to have her… stay with me on this it has a point besides the mushy… The point is I love her, i have never loved anyone else, i dont think I could, she is mine and I am hers. That’s the way it is… that is the way God intended.
Marrage is such a perfect picture of what God has intended for our relationship with him to and should be. We should be captivated and not able to find joy with any other. I know Amy is perfect for me, God intended it as such, in the same way He is perfect for me to, I will find safty, joy, hope, love, comfort, peace, contentment…. everything in him. just a thought as i sit here on valentines day….

oh for those that care the lyrics to the song are below.

Once in love with Amy
Always in love with Amy
Ever and ever fascinated by her
Sets your heart on fire to stay

Once you’re kissed by Amy
Tear up your list it’s Amy
Ply her with bonbons, poetry and flowers
Moon a million hours away

You might be quite the fickle hearted rover
So carefree and bold
Who loves a girl and later thinks it over
And just quits cold

But once in love with Amy
Always in love with Amy
Ever and ever sweetly you’ll romance her
Trouble is the answer will be
That Amy would rather stay in love with me

You might be quite the fickle hearted rover
So carefree and bold
Who loves a girl and later thinks it over
And just quits cold

But once in love with Amy
Always in love with Amy
Ever and ever sweetly you’ll romance her
Trouble is the answer will be
That Amy would rather stay in love with me

Grace

Grace, before you read any more please think on that word, what deos it mean to you.

1And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. 4But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
-Ephesians 2:1-10

Tonight I was thinking upon these verses and thinking of God’s grace, how is it that we can recieve grace with such ease from God but find it difficult to share grace with those we see around us.

This thought Started because a woman came in now for the third time and complained about the fact that we have people in our starbucks that are in her words “bums” , which one is a paying customer and the other is a mentally disabled man. Both are not hurting anyone nor are the bothering anyone, well accept her who seems to have a problem with people of a lower class than her own. She preceeds to tell me how they should not be allowed into starbucks and if we had any selfrespect as a business we would keep ” that kind of person” outside. This would have not been that big of a deal if she had not in the same breath with the same mouth been speaking of her Church group meeting she was going to. Grace was clearly lacking in her thought process. I was just so mad I had to walk away, mid sentence I just left and went in the back room. My responce might not have been perfect but, she does give me the perfect example. As a Christian she was not extending grace to anyone. grace to her stopped a recieving. I would like to point out verse 10 which says we are created in Christ, through grace to do good works, Grace flows in and saves us, making us alive in Christ, then flows out as good deeds. Good deeds are impossible without grace. All good deeds start with God’s grace and us sharing God’s grace. a simple idea but little is it used.

Think how many missed opportunities we have had to show grace to someone…. there are so many times that I am guilty of a graceless life.
Also, think of the church and what it would look like if grace was shown to all those who needed it ….

Please take amoment and think about how you can show grace to someone today…. I know this silly and short, but just be Gracious today.

6 odd things about me

    1. I am a huge fan of movie quoting!

I don’t think I have one male bonding experience that does not envolve movie quoting to some degree. I will also sometimes have entire conversations with my wife consisting of movie quotes. One of the many things I love so much about my wife is that she is right there with me.

    2. my mind has an endless capacity for useless knowledge

I could right now tell you the most random information you will ever need but I cant tell you what the number is to my wife’s cell phone. my mind will lock in all 6 verse of ” oh my darline” but not remeber what was said two minutes ago. this is both entertaining and cruel.

    3. I love plain Vanilla ice cream

I know that is not that interesting but I love it, it goes with everything, and when you want simple its still there for you.

    4. I have never been pulled over

People may not like my driving, or think I drive to slow or to fast or what ever. but I am also the only person I know who has never been pulled over for the way I drive. (so you know I am currently knocking on wood)

    5. I love the show Heroes.

That show is so cool. It does talk about evolution but also its a story of humanities desire to be better than they are, which can never happen outside of Christ, but its always entertaining to see how the world thinks they can do it.

    6. I sing in my sleep.

I was informed by my wife that this is a habit of mine. so far only Johnny cash songs……not that that makes it any better. in Fact I might make it worse.

Old posts from my other crappy blog

So Tuesday we went to the ob-gyn to do the first ultra-sound or what ever it is called, and we got to see the baby, and watch its heart beat! As I sit and look at the picture of this expectant Child of ours, I find new meaning and understanding in psalms 139. This is what it means to be knit together in the womb! Even at this stage in life God knows our child and loves our child even though we have not yet met it. We are truly eager to met this child and love him or her dearly.

oh as a side note I will post as soon as
I know what the sex of the baby is

1 O LORD, you have searched me
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.

3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.

4 Before a word is on my tongue
you know it completely, O LORD.

5 You hem me in—behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?

8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,

10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”

12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!

18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand.
When I awake,
I am still with you.

19 If only you would slay the wicked, O God!
Away from me, you bloodthirsty men!

20 They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.

21 Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD,
and abhor those who rise up against you?

22 I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.

24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
